Mission

The HARVEST…

The SHARE COOPERATIVE of Winston-Salem (SHARE) was developed in conjunction with The Freedom Tree at IDR, a non-profit organization that seeks to educate, organize, and support communities and organizations in developing policies and procedures to create diverse and inclusive cultures. SHARE’s motto, “Supplying Honest And Respectful Engagement” is our defining hallmark.

By “Supplying Honest And Respectful Engagement,” SHARE provides food along with nutrition education and advice to those living in “Food Deserts” in the Winston Salem/Forsyth County area.

Our Work

SHARE is A Faith Based Food and Program Supplier

SHARE is designed to demonstrate the collaboration of various socioeconomic and ethnic groups that make up our community. Our motto, “Supplying Honest And Respectful Engagement” is what we do.

Our organization is structured to provide:

  1. Nutritional/Healthy Food
  2. Nutrition Education/Food Care
  3. Coping Skills and Immigrant Support
  4. Advocacy which supports Local Food Equity, Policy and Planning

SHARE’s Harvest Market is a full-service retail store, where customers can shop for Nutritional/Healthy Food.

We redouble our efforts through several programs, including:

  • Nutrition Education/Food Preparation Awareness
  • Food Pharmacy (A healthy food prescription program)
  • SHARE CARE (Emergency food assistance)

Our working-groups consist of the owner/members of the cooperative; social responsibility campaigners; and those wishing to eliminate food insecurity. SHARE’s predominant goal continues to be service and assistance to our entire community (i.e., to promote inclusivity) to improve community wellness and health.

Goals

By bringing together community resources SHARE works to provide food, along with nutrition education and advice, to those struggling with food insecurity in the Winston Salem/Forsyth County area. We invite you to join us to help achieve these worthwhile goals.
